Irano-Aryan Faith and Doctrine as Contained in the Zend Avesta

"Irano-Aryan Faith and Doctrine as Contained in the Zend Avesta" is an extensive scholarly examination of the ancient religious traditions of Persia. Written by the noted philosopher and scholar Albert Pike, this work delves into the sacred texts of the "Zend Avesta" to uncover the core tenets of the Zoroastrian faith. Pike meticulously explores the concepts of dualism-the eternal struggle between light and darkness-and the moral framework that defined the spiritual life of the Irano-Aryan peoples. The book provides a deep analysis of the Gathas and other liturgical components of the Avesta, relating these ancient doctrines to broader Indo-European mythological themes. Pike's study emphasizes the historical significance of the faith as one of the world's oldest monotheistic systems, highlighting its influence on subsequent religious and philosophical thought. This volume serves as both a detailed commentary on Persian scripture and a philosophical exploration of the nature of deity, truth, and cosmic order. Zoroastrianism is presented here as a profound system of thought that shaped the trajectory of global civilizations. It remains a vital resource for students of comparative religion, history, and ancient Near Eastern studies. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
