Kelim Gashgai Rug

The Gashgai are Turkish-speaking nomadic tribes living in the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are reversible, flat-woven wool rugs with a distinctive slit-weave structure, meaning the weft forms slits where the colors change. These rugs display classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star patterns. Commonly used colors include blue, yellow, red, green, and beige.
