North Star Cherry

Prunus cerasus 'North Star'

The North Star Cherry has a fascinating history, having been cultivated by the University of Minnesota using unique crossbreeding techniques. Created in 1950, this cherry tree has since become a beloved staple in gardens due to its dwarf size, high fruit yield, and resilience. Despite its compact dimensions, it can reach 8 to 10 feet in height and spread 6 to 8 feet wide. Its white flowers and purple foliage make it an excellent choice as an ornamental tree.

Upgrade your garden or orchard with the exquisite appearance and scrumptious taste of North Star Cherries. This compact fruit tree is a valuable find, providing an abundance of tangy-sweet cherries that are perfect for eating, cooking, and preserving. Despite its small size, this dwarf tree is a highly productive producer of cherries. You'll be astounded by the quantity of juicy, deep red cherries it produces and typically ripens its fruit earlier in the summer than other cherry varieties, allowing you to enjoy fresh cherries sooner. Incorporate the North Star Cherry into your landscape and indulge in the delectable success it brings year after year.
