Afila 595 Pea Seeds. Pisum Sativum. Open Pollinated, Non-GMO, Heirloom. Annual. 65 days to maturity. This variety of pea is cultivated for its delicious, gracefully attractive long tendrils. The tender pea shoots tips are unique twisting threads. Harvest the tendrils and leaves at the top of the pea stem. Popular as microgreens and garnish. Similar to Afila Tendril Pea variety. Afila 595 is also popular when grown to maturity as a shelling pea with extra long pods containing on average 11 peas in a pod and sometimes up to 13. Tall plants with high pod set allowing for ease of hand picking makes it ideal for Fresh Market growers. Sow seeds by broadcasting in soil tray and tamp into soil. Lightly cover with soil. Keep covered for 3 to 4 more days before exposing light. Water daily so the soil is moist but not soggy. Harvest at desired length. Young pea shoot-tips and leaves have a delicious pea flavor. Fresh pea shoots are great as garnish to sandwiches, tacos and to any salad. Excellent in stir-fry with garlic in dishes such as Chinese dau miao. About 125 Seeds / Oz.
