Italy's biggest red, this wine is a true blockbuster, with the grapes soaking up all of the intense sunshine and power of the soil and giving it back in a dense, ripe, full-bodied wine. The bouquet is darkly spicy, with dried black cherry, dark chocolate, licorice, tobacco and cassis notes and flavors of dried fruit, fig, raisin, tart cherry and coffee carry through to a profoundly tannic finish that grips the palate and lasts long after every sip.

Robust enough for the richest dishes, this wine is brilliant with grilled porterhouse, osso buco or dry, sharp cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino Romano.
