Ruff Food™ Freeze-Dried Raw Backpacking Meals

Real Food for Dogs Who Go the Distance

Most freeze-dried dog foods are designed for convenience.
Ruff Food is designed for real life on the trail.

Ruff Food™ Freeze-Dried Raw Backpacking Meals are crafted for dogs who hike, camp, travel, work, and explore alongside their humans — where nutrition, digestibility, and fuel efficiency actually matter.

This isn’t survival food.
It’s intentional nourishment, built for endurance, recovery, and long-term health.

What Sets Ruff Food Apart

🥩 Built Like a Meal — Not a Marketing Formula
Ruff Food is made with 85% high-quality meat, 10% organs, and 5% vegetables, following a biologically appropriate prey-model ratio. No fillers. No fluff. No inflated ingredient panels designed to look impressive but feed poorly.

🔥 Freeze-Dried Raw — Without the Hard-to-Digest Tradeoffs
Many freeze-dried foods are dense, dry, and difficult for dogs to digest on the move. Ruff Food is carefully balanced and gently processed to maintain digestibility, nutrient integrity, and palatability, even during high exertion.

💧 Hydration-First Feeding
Designed to be rehydrated, Ruff Food supports hydration alongside nutrition — critical for backpacking dogs, altitude changes, and long days of physical output. Dry calories don’t cut it on the trail.

⚡ High-Energy, Efficient Fuel
When pack weight matters, Ruff Food delivers maximum nutrition per ounce. Small servings provide meaningful energy, protein, and fat without overloading your dog’s system or causing digestive stress.

🎒 Purpose-Built for Backpacking & Travel
Lightweight, compact, and easy to prepare anywhere. Whether you’re rehydrating at camp, sprinkling over food as a topper, or feeding as a complete meal, Ruff Food adapts to your adventure — not the other way around.

🐕 Real-World Tested, Not Just Lab Designed
Ruff Food was developed by feeding real dogs in real conditions — senior dogs, service dogs, high-drive adventure dogs, and dogs with sensitive digestion. Every decision prioritizes how dogs actually eat, digest, and perform, not just what looks good on a label.

Why Ruff Food Exists

Ruff Food wasn’t created to compete on price or trends.
It was created because active dogs need better food when it matters most — away from home, far from routine, and deep into adventure.

No shortcuts.
No filler calories.
No compromise between convenience and health.

When purchasing freeze-dried or air-dried products, the recovery rate is about 19-35%. What that means is we're not shipping the moisture to you. For example, 10 lbs of meat and veggies weighs 1.9 - 3.5 lbs when freeze dried.
