- 🍃 Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, or Tropical Hibiscus, are a large species of tropical, flowering shrubs prized worldwide. The exceptional variety of flower forms and colors available today are the result of global hybridization efforts. These unique varieties are commonly known as Fancy, Exotic, or Hybrid Tropical Hibiscus and are prized for their complex colors and structures. While they require careful and attentive cultivation, they are a rewarding choice.
- 🌸 'Whipped Cream' is a hybrid of the Hibiscus rosa-sinensis species. Large, classic single blooms up to 9 " across classic with slightly rippled petals of translucent creamy white a well-formed ruby red eye inspired the name 'Whipped Cream' and are borne on a sturdy, upright plant that does not require grafting. Bloom color and form are variable and affected by weather and maturity. It has a resilient root system, but is best grown as a well-tended potted plant.
- 🤗 Care: This plant performs best as a well-tended potted plant. It requires good quality, well-draining, slightly acidic, high-quality potting media, the full-spectrum of bright indirect light daily, but should be protected from the hot, direct afternoon sun. It thrives in warm temperatures between 70*F-90°F with a minimum10°F night/day difference, and high humidity (60%−80%). Maintain consistent moisture in the media, but avoid overwatering.
- 🏡Indoor Growing: Exotic Tropical Hibiscus do not adapt easily to indoor growing environments due to their specific needs for light, humidity, and temperature fluctuations. Successful indoor cultivation will require significant modifications to an average growing space.
- 🌡Climate: Hibiscus rosa-sinensis are tropical plants recommended for outdoor growing within USDA Growing Zones 9, 10, 11. Cold protection is required in all Zones for optimum appearance, earliest flowering, and best overall plant health.
